Our Charter
NSCCAHS's Charter is to improve the health of the community by providing and facilitating efficient and responsive health services. These services focus on the needs and the desired health outcomes of the population while taking account of available resources. The needs of the population are best met through an appropriate balance between health promotion, public health, community health services, acute hospital services, long term care, research and education.

Our Goal
NSCCAHS is committed to ensuring that our health services achieve the best possible quality of life for all people in our communities.

  • Seek comment on our services and invite suggestions for a change or improvement.

  • Create an environment which furthers the health debate at all levels in order to ensure that the health needs of the community are met.
  • Advocate for quality in all our services and act promptly where shortfalls are identified.
  • Work with other agencies to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources in achieving our goal.
  • Recognise the important role the staff of NSCCAHS plays in achieving our goals by investing in their education and development, and encouraging staff involvement in decision making.
  • Promote fairness in both service provision and access for all people who live and work within our geographical boundaries.

Our Profile
Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service (NSCCAHS) came into existence on January 1 2005 as part of the NSW Department of Health's health reform package titled Planning Better Health. The reforms included a reduction in the number of Area Health Services from 17 across NSW to eight through a series of Area Health Service mergers and boundary changes.

NSCCAHS resulted from the amalgamation of the former Northern Sydney Health (NSH) and Central Coast Health (CCH) Area Health Services.

Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Service (NSCCAHS) is responsible for the funding, organisation and delivery of public health services from the Harbour to the Hawkesbury. Extending from Sydney Harbour to the northern reaches of the Central Coast, NSCCAHS includes:
  • The Central Coast, including much of the Hawkesbury River
  • Sydney's Northern Beaches
  • Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai
  • Ryde
  • Sydney's North Shore
