Create a job ad

Log into your SEEK Advertiser account and click on the Create a Job Ad link.

If this is your first time here or you don’t have any current job advertisements, you will be presented with this screen:

Click on Create an Ad to begin the four-step process.

Step 1: Write Your Job Ad

Select the zone in which you want your job ad to appear.

Consider whether this ad is suitable to advertise in multiple zones.

Improve Your Results allows you to reach a wider audience by placing the ad in both the SEEK and SEEK Executive zones, or both SEEK IT and SEEK Executive zones. If the position is targeted to entry-level or graduate jobseekers then list it in the Graduate/Entry Level section additionally for free.

Select a standard Job Ad Template.

If you wish to use a customised Job Ad Template featuring your company logo and brand, phone 1300 568 700 to talk with a SEEK Customer Service representative.

Click on a thumbnail image to see a sample of how the template will appear.

Proceed to the Job Ad Details box and fill each field. Those marked with an asterisk are required fields.

Job Ad Title should indicate the actual title of the position. Follow the tips beside the Ad Details to craft a detailed description of the role.

The 'Make your ad stand out' option enhances your short description, allowing you to include additional selling points a logo and a border.

Supply an application email only if you wish applications to go to an email address in addition to your registered email address. This may be the email address of a line manager or HR consultant, for example.

After completing the details of your job ad, click CHECK SPELLING and make any necessary corrections.

The Contact Details is displayed to the jobseeker and allows you to provide a name and phone number for further inquiries or to obtain a position description.

The next step is to categorise the job in terms of city, area or region, classification, sub-classification, specialisation and work type. Categorise the job according to where the role fits in an organisation, not the industry the organisation does business in. Jobseekers search for jobs based on the function they perform, not the industry they wish to work in.

The final part of Step 1 is to input salary. Salary appears to jobseekers on the search results, job preview and job application pages. This is an optional field, however it is information that jobseekers really value. Select either Annual Salary or Hourly Wage then input the salary by Amount or Range. The Additional Salary Text field can be used to enter additional information such as "+ commission", "car included" or "plus benefits".

Save a draft or press CONTINUE to advance to the next step.

Step 2: Preview Job Ad

This step allows you to preview your job ad.

It previews how the job will appear to jobseekers:

  • Summary in the Search Results.
  • Full job ad listing with description and details.

The Listing Summary confirms the SEEK classifications, location, area and work type you have selected for this position.

Click BACK to amend the details of the job ad, SAVE A DRAFT FOR LATER, or if you’re happy with the text and formatting of your ad click CONTINUE.

Step 3: Optimise Candidate Search

Two methods are available to help source candidates, sort through applicants and determine their suitability.

The SEEK Screen lets you present a questionnaire to jobseekers when they apply for the job. You can choose a questionnaire from the SEE K library or write your own questions as part of a customised form. The SEEK Screen will sort applicants based on their answers and reduce the time it takes to find just the right person for your business.

The Resume Search can be engaged to s earch hundreds of thousands of jobseeker resumes. You can search resumes that match the classifications and locations that you used to post your job ad. Use other search tools, such as freshness of resume and availability, to f ind the best candidate from the SEEK Resume database.

Step 4: Payment for Job Ad

Itemised Billing Information shows what SEEK services you are using and lists the total charges.

Payment Options give you the flexibility to pay by invoice within fourteen days or use the quick and convenient secure online payment service. This credit card transaction can be made via Visa, MasterCard, Bankcard or American Express.
