The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) offers a diverse and rewarding career
across the entire financial services industry as the prudential regulator of banking, insurance
and superannuation, supervising institutions holding around $3 trillion in assets for 21 million
Australians.
APRA offers a comprehensive learning and development program, which it recognises as essential to
its performance as a world-class regulator. We are an organisation that encourages the principles of
workplace diversity and recognise the importance of work-life balance for employees.
What we do
At APRA we:
- license new financial institutions;
- assess the safety implications of mergers, acquisitions and major changes to financial institutions'
business operations;
- monitor the financial position and outlook of institutions;
- assess risks in financial institutions and their control systems;
- manage problem situations and at risk institutions; and
- enforce directions to protect policyholders, depositors and superannuation fund members.
APRA teams also provide specialist policy advice, risk management and consulting services to front-line
supervisors. Highly skilled economists, accountants, lawyers, statisticians and actuaries analyse:
- asset pricing;
- risk measurement and management;
- legislative issues;
- corporate governance; and
- linkages between the financial system and the macro-economy.
What we are looking for
We seek skilled professionals with integrity, interested in helping shape financial services in Australia to
better protect policyholders, depositors and superannuation fund members.
