Loreto Kirribilli is an independent Catholic day school with an enrolment of approximately 1050 girls from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school is one seven in Australia and one of many around the world directed by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), also known as the Loreto Sisters.
At Loreto Kirribilli, we are proud to build on the work of Mary Ward, who founded the IBVM in 1609. Mary Ward recognised the critical difference that education could make to her troubled world, especially through the education, care and development of faith in women. Her vision is the foundation of all that we do at Loreto Kirribilli and is stated in this excerpt of the Loreto Schools of Australia Mission Statement, 1998. "...that Loreto schools offer a Catholic education which liberates, empowers and motivates students to use their individual gifts with confidence, creativity and generosity in loving and responsible service."
Location
Loreto Kirribilli is situated on a beautiful Sydney harbourside site with views across Careening Cove to Neutral Bay and is convenient to ferry, train and bus. The junior and senior schools are situated in separate buildings on the same campus, sharing many of the school's outstanding facilities.
Employment at Kirribilli
Loreto Kirribilli is a vibrant learning community which continues a 400-year old world wide tradition of excellence in the education of girls.
The school has a commitment to offering the most professional facilities for students and staff in a functional and beautiful environment to complement its unique site. Students are encouraged to be young women who seek knowledge and truth and act with justice in all aspects of their lives. They are guided to be independent learners with a sense of confidence and self knowledge which is fostered by experienced and committed staff. While academic achievement is a priority, our aim is to provide a balanced education that empowers and motivates and this is our most important vision for our students.
Mother Gonzaga Barry was the first leader of the Loreto Sisters in Australia, establishing a convent at Ballarat, Victoria in 1875 and then Sydney in 1892. The staff at Loreto continually strive to live up to the expectations of Mother Gonzaga, who said: Contact:
