Large national and multinational corporations in the building and construction industry tend to build major construction works such as office buildings, shopping centres, sporting stadiums and large residential developments. They may also be contracted by governments.
A career with one of the large publicly listed corporations will, more often than not, require some form of tertiary qualification.
Jobs are more likely to be in management work rather than the trades, however, corporates still hire a large number of tradespeople on a project-by-project basis, or subcontract work to smaller privately owned companies who employ people to work on the site.
Some of the main Australian corporate companies include:
- Baulderstone Hornibrook
- Bovis Lend Lease
- John Holland
- Leighton Holdings
- Multiplex.
Other employers:
Corporates
Privately owned companies
Government
Small businesses
